Common questions
What is an appetite guide? A carrier's document that says which businesses, lines of insurance and states it will and won't write. AppetiteAI reads them so you can search all your carriers at once.
How do I add carriers? Open Upload and drop in appetite guides: PDF, Word, PowerPoint, or a photo of the pages. Each takes 10 to 40 seconds to read. Or connect Outlook in Settings and click Scan inbox now to find guides your carriers emailed you.
A guide says "no readable text". What now? The PDF is a scan (pictures of pages, no text). Take a screenshot or photo of the pages that list the classes and upload that instead.
What do the match labels mean? Strong match: the business is on the carrier's accepted list. Likely: the carrier writes a broad range of that line but doesn't list this business. Call to confirm: the carrier writes the line but its guide doesn't mention the business. Not eligible: the business is excluded, or the state isn't one the carrier writes in. Always confirm with the underwriter before quoting.
What's the book of business? The policies your agency has already placed, from your agency management system's spreadsheet export (.xlsx). Upload it in Book, then ask questions like "Who writes workers' comp for restaurants?" to see which carriers you've actually used, by policies or by premium.
What is the AM Best rating? AM Best rates how able an insurer is to pay claims (A++ is the top). AppetiteAI only shows a rating that was quoted in a carrier's own guide or entered by hand, and links to ambest.com so you can check the current one.
Does AppetiteAI read my email on its own? No. It reads your inbox only when you click Scan inbox now, and it can't send, change or delete email. Disconnect any time in Settings.
I hit a daily limit. Each account has a daily allowance of searches, uploads, book questions and inbox scans so the service stays fair. It resets at midnight UTC.
Can I make an account? No. AppetiteAI is a private tool, so there's no sign-up. Anyone can try it: click Try the demo on the sign-in page. It uses made-up carriers and a sample agency, and nothing is saved.
