Common questions

Which repositories work? Any public repository on GitHub. Paste its link (https://github.com/owner/repo) or just type owner/repo. To use a branch other than the main one, paste a link to that branch (…/tree/branch-name). Private repositories, empty repositories and other sites such as GitLab don't work. Very large repositories work too; Day 1 reads their folder map, README and a few key files rather than every file.

How long does it take? Usually 10 to 30 seconds. The screen shows each step while it works, and you can tap Cancel.

Why did I get a "simpler deck"? When the AI is busy, slow or can't write a good deck, Day 1 builds one from the repository's files instead: its size and languages, its biggest folders, the files to read first and how to run it. A banner says so. Tap Try the full deck again to have another go.

It says I've made a lot of decks in a row. To keep Day 1 free and fair, each visitor can ask for 6 decks every 10 minutes (tries that fail count too). The message says how long to wait. Opening decks you've already made doesn't count.

It says GitHub is limiting how fast we can read repositories. GitHub limits how often any service can read it. Wait the few minutes the message gives and try again.

"We couldn't find that repository." Check the spelling, and make sure the repository is public. Private repositories get this message too.

How do I present a deck? Use the arrow keys or Space to move between slides (swipe on a phone). Press P, or tap Presenter view, to see your speaking notes, a timer and the next slide. Tap Open audience window and drag that window to the projector: it follows your slides. If nothing opens, allow pop-ups for this site. Press F for full screen and ? for every shortcut.

How do I save a PDF? Tap Save as PDF (on a phone it's under the ••• button). Your browser's print window opens; choose Save as PDF as the printer. Each slide becomes one landscape page, always in the light colours.

How do I share a deck? Tap Share link. The whole deck travels inside the link, so the person you send it to doesn't need anything else. You can also download it as a Markdown file for a wiki or README.

Where are my decks? Can I open them on another device? They're saved in the browser you made them in, under Your decks on the home page. There are no accounts, so they don't sync; use Share link to open a deck somewhere else.

How do I delete a deck? Tap the bin icon next to it under Your decks, or clear this site's data in your browser.

Is the deck always right? It's written by an AI from part of the repository, so treat it as a friendly map and check the details in the code.
