Common questions
How do I add WhoBot to my server? Open the WhoBot site and tap Add to Discord, then pick your server. You need the Manage Server permission there. WhoBot asks for four permissions only: View Channel, Read Message History, Send Messages and Embed Links.
How do I play?
- Run
/setupand choose the channel WhoBot should quote from. - Run
/guesswho. WhoBot posts a random old message from that channel. - Everyone picks who they think wrote it from the menu under the message. Each player gets one guess per round; the first right answer wins a point.
- When someone gets it, or someone presses Reveal the answer, WhoBot shows who wrote it with a Jump to the message link.
/scoresshows the scoreboard./endgameends the session.
Why can't I run /setup or /endgame? By default they're for people with the Manage Server permission, so nobody can wipe the scoreboard by accident. Server admins can let others use them in Server Settings → Integrations → WhoBot.
WhoBot says it can't read the channel. Give WhoBot the View Channel and Read Message History permissions in that channel (channel settings → Permissions), then run /setup again.
WhoBot says it couldn't find a message. It only uses messages of five words or more, written by people (not bots), that haven't been played yet this session. A new or very quiet channel may not have any left. Pick a busier channel with /setup, or run /endgame to start a fresh session.
It says a round is already going. One round runs at a time per server. Tap Go to the round, then guess or press Reveal the answer. A round left open for 30 minutes is closed automatically when someone starts a new one.
Will a message come up twice? Not within a session. After /endgame, a new session can use any message again.
I picked the wrong person by accident. Each player gets one guess per round, so it stays. You'll get the next one.
Does it work in more than one server? Yes. Each server has its own channel, rounds and scoreboard.
Does WhoBot keep our messages? No. It reads messages only when a round starts and never stores their text. See the privacy policy.
How do I remove WhoBot and its data? Run /endgame (that deletes everything WhoBot stored for your server), then remove the bot in Server Settings → Integrations.
