Common questions
How do I try it without my own files? On the home page, press Try the demo. It loads ten free photos and a small public model (YOLOX-Nano, 3.7 MB), then labels them in front of you. You can fix boxes and export as usual.
Which models work? Object detectors exported to ONNX in the YOLOv8 / YOLO11, YOLOv5 / YOLOv7 or YOLOX layout. AutoLabel reads the image size from the model file; if the file doesn't say, it asks (it's usually 640). The model's input must be square. To export a YOLOv8 or YOLO11 model, run yolo export model=best.pt format=onnx imgsz=640.
My boxes have the wrong names. Load the class list the model was trained with, one name per line, in the same order. If you load a model without a list, classes are named class_0, class_1 and so on.
How do I draw and fix boxes? In Draw & edit, drag on the image to draw a box, then type or pick its class. Drag a box to move it, or its corners and edges to resize it. Select lets you drag a rectangle over several boxes to move, scale, rotate or flip them together. Every change can be undone.
Auto-label all skipped some images. It only labels images that have no boxes yet, so your own work is never overwritten. To redo one image, open it and press Auto-label this image.
Why won't it export? Every box needs a class first. The message names the images that still have a box without one.
What does the export contain? A zip with one .txt file per image that has boxes (one line per box: class x_center y_center width height, all from 0 to 1) and classes.txt.
My video won't load. Use an MP4 (H.264) or WebM file. Some phone videos (HEVC) can't be read by every browser.
Can I use it on a phone? Yes, for the demo, drawing boxes with a finger and export. It's built for a computer, though: keyboard shortcuts need a keyboard, and big jobs are easier on a bigger screen.
Are my images uploaded? No. Images, videos and models stay in your browser and the model runs on your device. Only a few counts are saved (see the privacy policy).
How do I delete my saved stats? On the labeling page, press Clear my saved stats in the "This session" panel.
I reloaded the page and my work is gone. Your images and boxes live only in the page while it's open. Export before closing or reloading; AutoLabel warns you before you leave.
