Common questions

How do I add Doppel to my server? Open the Doppel site and tap Add to Discord, then pick your server. You need the Manage Server permission there. Doppel asks for four permissions only: View Channel, Read Message History, Send Messages and Embed Links.

How do I set it up? When Doppel joins, it posts a setup card saying what it will read and keep. Someone with the Manage Server permission presses Start learning. If you can't find the card, run /setup. Learning takes a few minutes; the card updates as it goes and says when Doppel is ready.

How do I talk to someone's Doppel? Run /talk, pick the member in with, and type your message. Or right-click (long-press on mobile) a member, then Apps → Talk to their Doppel. Press Reply under any answer to keep going; anyone in the channel can join in.

It says it hasn't seen enough messages from someone. Doppel needs at least 25 messages from a member to imitate them. Quiet members, or members who mostly post in channels Doppel can't see, won't have a Doppel. Give Doppel View Channel and Read Message History in more channels, then run /setup and start learning again.

Doppel learned nobody, or skipped a channel. It can only read channels where it has View Channel and Read Message History. Check its permissions in your busiest channels (channel settings → Permissions), then run /setup again.

Does it keep learning new messages? No. It learns when an admin starts learning, and not in the background. Run /setup and press Start learning to refresh it with newer messages.

It says it's still learning. Learning a big server takes a few minutes. /personas shows how far it has got.

It says the server has used today's messages. Each server can have 300 Doppel replies and 40 new Doppels a day. The count resets at midnight UTC.

Why can't I run /setup or /reset? By default they're for people with the Manage Server permission. Server admins can change that in Server Settings → Integrations → Doppel.

I don't want a Doppel of me. Run /forgetme in the server. Doppel deletes what it kept about you there and leaves you out when it learns again. /learnme undoes it.

Is it really them? No. Every answer is labelled as an AI imitation. It copies how someone writes, not what they think, and it can be wrong. Please don't treat what a Doppel says as something the real person said.

Does it work in more than one server? Yes. Each server has its own samples, Doppels and conversations.

How do I remove Doppel and its data? Run /reset (that deletes everything Doppel stored for your server), then remove the bot in Server Settings → Integrations.
