Common questions
What is Meridian? A private trading lab. Nine rule-based strategies run side by side on a practice account at a broker (Alpaca's paper trading, which uses pretend money). Each strategy has to pass a ladder of tests, called gates, before it could ever be trusted with real money.
Is any of this real money? No. The account is a practice account, and there's no way for it to trade real money without a deliberate change to the code.
How do I look around? On the sign-in page, tap Try the demo. Every page opens with sample data copied from the practice account. Tap Exit demo (top of the page, or in the menu) to leave.
Why don't the buttons do anything in the demo? The demo is read-only. Buttons like Disarm or Run backtest tell you what they would do and change nothing.
What does "stale" mean next to a time? That number is more than 20 minutes old. Prices and the account update only while the market is open, so most of them read "stale" in the evening and at weekends.
What is a gate? One test on the ladder. G0 checks the backtest was built honestly, G1 that the strategy still makes money after trading costs, G2 that the result isn't luck, G3 that it works on data it has never seen, G4 that it trades on paper exactly as tested, and G5 that it keeps doing so.
What does the advisor do? Tap Get a read on the Advisor page and an AI writes a few plain-English sentences about the numbers on the "How it's going" page. It explains; it can't place or change a trade.
Why does Readiness say "not yet"? Readiness lists every check that must pass before a small real-money trial could start. Some need time (weeks of clean practice trading) and some need a strategy to earn its place. The page says which ones are still waiting and the earliest date each could pass.
