Common questions

How do I scan a menu? Tap Take a photo (or Choose from Photos), add up to 6 pages, then tap Read menu. Dishes appear page by page. A busy page can take up to a minute.

It says it couldn't find any dishes. Take the photo closer, with the page flat and well lit, one page per photo. Avoid glare from laminated menus by tilting the phone slightly.

Some dishes are missing. Very small or handwritten text is harder to read. Take a closer photo of that part of the menu and scan it as an extra page.

What do "Fits you", "Check with staff" and "Avoid" mean? They compare each dish with the diet and allergies you set in the You tab. Avoid means the dish has something you told us you don't eat. Check with staff means we can't be sure — for example, whether the meat is halal, or whether fries share a fryer with gluten. Fits you means nothing in the dish clashes with your choices. None of these is a guarantee: always confirm allergens with the restaurant.

Where do converted prices come from? Daily exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com), saved on your phone for 24 hours. They're estimates; the restaurant's own price is shown too. Pick your home currency in You.

Why is the dish photo a different plate? Photos come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons and show a typical version of the dish, not the restaurant's. When there's no good match, you'll see an illustration instead.

Is there a limit? You can scan 20 menus a day for free. The count resets at midnight UTC.

Can I use it offline? Scanning needs a connection. Saved menus open offline, with your last downloaded exchange rates.

How do I delete my data? Swipe left on a saved menu to delete it, or use You → Delete all saved menus. Your diet and allergies are removed when you delete the app. See the privacy policy for details.
